Instead of one linear path, you create unique journeys based on how visitors respond. Ask "What brings you here?" and branch into three completely different experiences based on their answer. Each path gets its own design, messaging, and offers tailored to what that visitor actually cares about.

Here are some ways to use it:

• Interactive quizzes with dynamic rewards. Create product recommendation quizzes where visitors who answer correctly get better discounts. Or build style quizzes for Shopify stores that recommend products from different categories based on preferences.

• Personalized onboarding flows. Guide visitors through different paths depending on their role, experience level, or goals. Show developers technical documentation while pointing business users to case studies.

How branching popups work

The Branch form block replaces traditional email, phone, and survey forms with a more flexible system built around multiple submit buttons. Each button can trigger a different action, creating separate paths within a single popup campaign.

Here's the basic flow:

• You add questions to collect information from visitors, just like a regular form

• Instead of one submit button, you add multiple buttons, each representing a different choice

• When a visitor clicks a button, you decide what happens next

• You can show them the next step in the main flow, or branch them into a completely different path with its own design, messaging, and offers

Each branch can be as different as you need it to be. Change images and copy, display different products, offer unique incentives, or use entirely different layouts and blocks. You're building multiple experiences inside one campaign.

Setting up your first branching popup in Wisepops

Here's how to build a branching popup from scratch.

Step 1: Start from an existing template and remove existing forms

Most campaigns start from an existing template. 

Before adding a Branch block, make sure to remove any existing email, phone, survey, or spin-to-win forms from all steps of the campaign. Only one form type is allowed per campaign, and in this case it must be the Branch block.

Step 2: Add the Branch form to your campaign

Drag and drop the Branch form block into your design in Blocks > Form.

By default, this creates a form with two submit buttons. 

You can customize both the fields and the number of buttons to match your use case. Like below, we added three buttons for answers:

Step 3: Configure your questions and buttons

Like a regular form, the Branch block lets you add questions to collect data from visitors (email, phone, custom fields, etc.) and sync that data with your email and SMS integrations.

To set up your buttons—

The Branch block comes with two buttons by default, but you can add more by going to the Buttons tab and clicking "+Add button":

Assign an ID to each button that will store the visitor's answer:

By default, the field ID syncs with your ESP using the button's label (or "Button text"). If you want to use a different value in your ESP database, click "Use different value" and enter a more ESP-friendly value

Define what happens after each choice: either "Show next step" to continue to a specific step, or "Show next step → + Create new branch" to start a new path:

Step 4: Create and manage branches

When you create a new branch, a new path appears at the same step level in your campaign editor. Each branch is automatically named after the button label that created it, making it easy to track multiple visitor journeys.

Step 5: Customize each branch’s campaign design and message

Once branches are created, design completely different experiences for each path. Change images and copy, display different products or recommendations, offer different incentives, or use entirely different blocks and layouts. There are no limitations on how different each branch can be.

Availability and next steps

Branching popups are available now for customers on 2025 plans, and work for both popups and embedded forms. If you're on an older plan and want access, you can update your plan or reach out to our team.
